A Day with my Other Mother

Yesterday I spent the majority of the day hanging out with my mother-in-law. Now most people say "Why in the world would you want to spend any length of time with your mother-in-law" and finish my telling some horror story. Well, that's not the case here. I absolutely LOVE my mother--in-law! Whenever we can we spend "girl time" because I'm her only "daughter." So we spent our day doing exactly that.

First we went to a newer tea room in Canton called Sugarplums with about 17 ladies from Mary Ann's Sunday School Class. The owner was really nice and was constantly reminding us how "everything is homemade every day- the tea, the bread, the hicken salad, and the pimento cheese." The only negative thing I have to say is that we were there for over two hours waiting to be served and get our food. This is a bad thing because all I had eaten all day was a banana and we did not get our food until after 2:00! However, the food was good. Service, I'm not so sure about...

After lunch I finally got the pedicure my feet were waiting for. My toes are now bright pink with sparkles in them. The foot massage was absolutely to die for! Now I have pretty feet! We went to a local place called Sooji.

Next on our list of girly activities was shopping... of course! It started at a shoe store, then we went to Bath and Body Works Semi-Annual Sale, found some beauty products at Ulta, and ended up at Old Navy. Which, by the way, I got the deal of the year! I found a pair of jeans that are normally $32.50 for $6.97. Well, I was all excited about this. But wait! It gets better! I got up to the counter and the lady says, "That will be $2.09." That's right ladies! I got a pair of really nice jeans for $2!! Apparently everything at Old Navy that ends with 97 cents is really $1.97 for the time being. Woah!

As we were heading toward home Mary Ann got a phone call from her friend Connie that she and her husband Larry would like to go to dinner with all of us. So we quickly decided that we'd host dinner at the Carney house, making a quick trip to Target to get the left-over necessary items. John (that's my father-in-law) grilled some great chicken and pork chops! Dinner was made complete with more of my peanut butter and chocolate cake. We had a great time getting to know Larry and Connie more and the food was wonderful!

That sounds like an absolutely perfect day (except for the 2 hour wait, yeesh)! I am envious of your relationship with your mother-in-law. I am one of those with the horror stories.

I'm going to have to run to Old Navy to see if we have the same $1.97 deal going. That is fantastic!!
