One of the most fantastic parents I will ever meet at school got me The YadaYada Prayer Journal for an end-of-the-year present. (Yes, I teach in public schools!) Together we had read through the first two books in the series and she got this journal along with the third book in the series before I left Texas.
Anyway, I have started reading the devotionals and today's lesson was knowing the motives behind our prayers. Neta Jackson took the scripture versus James 4:3, 6-7 that explain the biblical motives. The questions that she came up with to pray over struck me interestingly. I'm not going to share my answers, but am posting to give you something to think about. It sure made me think!
*What are three things you are seeking God for?
*What are your motives in each?
*Would you feel God had answered you in a generous way if He were to simply give you "more grace"?
One of the places I need "more grace" is for those I interact with daily. (This can be over the phone or in person.) I find myself so easily anxious, realizing that I need to depend on God's grace more than my own understanding. This is really hard for me because I think I have to understand everything that everyone says. It leads to much frustration in my life. Everyone from the Secretary who gave me the wrong directions to the Verizon lady who will not let me have account access because it does not have my name on the account to loving my amazing husband. I don't have to understand everything. And if I just understood God's grace more, then I just might have more grace to bestow upon those around me.
What I would give to be graceful and understanding. I'm sure there are lots of people who would all appreciate that!

I just looked at your pics and they are wonderful! Especially loved the pictures of Costa Rica. Have a wonderful day at the park tomorrow and we'll talk soon.
Love, Bridget
As one of the most fantastic parent you ever will meet (what an awesome thing to say, thank you), I am so glad you are enjoying the devotional! I bought one for myself too. I haven't started it yet as one of the most fantastic teachers I will ever meet gave me a really cool Women of the Bible study. :)
Happy Belated Birthday to Brent!
D,
You have to let me know when you start it so we can talk about it. Just to let you know, you'll want to read the 3rd book too before getting to the third secion of the devotional. I figured that out this morning. It goes through the first three Yada Yadad books.
I'll let you know when I start it. Thanks for the head's up about reading the 3rd book. I hope it didn't spoil anything for you!
