Exploring Cincinnati: Kenwood

Upon moving here, Brent and I have had the urge to visit an outdoors store, something like REI, SunSki, or even Academy. Our only luck has been with a Dick's Sporting Goods, which only whetted our appetite. We wanted something more.

Well, on the way to "Hiking Monday" we saw a billboard for The Benchmark Outfitters. When we got home we looked it up and went there last night when Brent got home from work. It was a nice store and somewhat comparable to REI. We did not buy anything, but one of the people that worked there told us about some hiking and camping spots that we are very excited to try out in the very near future. We'll definitely go back there when we have the desire to find quality camping and hiking necessities.

In the same shopping center there was a running store (which has the running shoes I wear!) and a teacher store. After exploring those we headed back to I-71 because a few exits back there was a huge shopping area and we were hungry! We ended up at Kenwood Towne Center, an area with lots of restaurants (including Cheesecake Factory!), a movie theatre, and a mall. We spent the rest of our time out exploring the mall, which I thought to be quite large. This area is only about 30 minutes from where we live in Kentucky, not a bad drive for all that was available there.

When we got home Brent turned on the TV to watch the LA Galaxy game as it was David Beckham's premiere in Los Angeles. We find ourselves amazed that one person can get so much hype. But hey, maybe soccer will make it's way into the "important sports" list in the United States someday. That would be exciting! The Galaxy lost. Better luck next time.

I, on the other hand, read The Yada Yada Prayer Group Gets Rolling. I am learning so much from the fictional characters in this novel series about life in general. Things happen. We must depend on God to get through them. And even crazier than that, I find myself applying the things I read about. It's amazing how God gets our attention. What a great God he is!

Exploring new places is really one of the best things about moving. And the icing on the cake is when you find things that you miss about 'home'.

Did Beckham play? Big D said he had a hurt ankle or something...Coastie Bro wanted me to watch for him. He is a HUGE soccer fan.

I finished Yada Yada Get Caught. I don't know when I'll get to read Gets Rolling. I'll have to buy it.

I just don't think soccer will ever be as big in the U.S. as it is elsewhere in the world. Which is fine by me - I'm not a big soccer fan (sorry Coastie Bro).

Wow - a hiking store, a running store, AND a teacher store all in one place!!! What a find!!

D... yes, Beckham played for a little at the end. I was more caught up in the fans like Katie Holmes styling her new haircut. By the way, I finished Get's Rolling. It's probably my favorite so far! You're going to love it!

Tara... I miss you too! How was your run yesterday?

Hee! I would probably be like you and caught up in the fans. How funny that Katie was styling her hair.
Your favorite so far? I was thinking #5 was my fav so far. I'll have to hurry and read #6 then. I think #7 comes out in January, right? I also saw that they are coming out with an all in one book. I might hold out for that one if I can wait that long.

She was not "styling" her new hair, but had a new hair style. I wrote that wierd. Anyway, #7 comes out in October! And it's supposed to come with recipes in it. I did not hear about the all in one book. That would be neat if I didn't already have so many of them.
