New Things

Yesterday and today I had meetings at school. It's crazy how much states vary within the public education system. I'm having to remind myself constantly (which is not as easy when things are busier) that God is in control and I must trust him in my frustration with feeling somewhat lost. It feels like my first year teaching all over again... and this is number 5! But as Bridget reminded me this morning, each year is new and with the summer off we always feel lost in August, no matter whether we are teaching the same thing or soemthing new. And that's OK because after about a month things will start to roll and the feeling will dissipate. I need not worry, I'll get there!

After today's meeting I continued working in my classroom. I got a lot done, but still have so much to do! When it's all done I'll post some pictures to share the finished product. My goal is to finish before going to see my grandparents in Florida next Tuesday. That may or may not happen...

Once I got home I made dinner: grilled steak, green peppers and onions with baked sweet potatoes. The blackened peppers and onions were great with just a little olive oil brushed on them. It was a great dinner... one I can't wait to make again soon!

The rest of my night was spent at Barnes and Noble in the coffee shop section knitting. I was invited to join a knitting group from one of the girls Brent works with. At first I was hesitant for a few reasons but now realize they were pretty much silly. This was the third time I went and I think I'll continue to go. The people are nice and knitting is kinda therapeutic in some ways. Tonight I started knitting a green scarf. It has a long way to come. When it's finished I will post pictures of it as well.

Overall it was a good day. I'm starting to understand what the days ahead may hold. It's exciting to get away from the unknown a little!

I want to knit. I wish I had asked my grandmother to teach me when I lived closer to her. I never thought I'd want to learn tho.

Bridget is exactly right. I'm glad you listened to her. :)

Um,wanna come over and cook for my family? I think they'd really love you for it.

woohoo for knitting clubs and steak. What a wierd combo! I won't be knitting for a while, so enjoy it for me. Whatever happened to that afghan, did it ever get finished?

Usually new things are kinda scary for me - you have embraced them wholeheartedly these past few months! Yay for you!
