One of Brent's co-workers and her husband went with us. Honestly we loved it! We showed up around 3:00 to see them release thousands of rubber ducks that raised money for a cause I can't remember. We walked around in the 90 degree heat on both sides of the river for about an hour before giving in to the air conditioned AMC inside the Levee Mall.
There we watched The Bourne Ultimatum, which I recommend as a great action movie. We sat a little close for comfort so there were moments that I was wondering if we were going to get motion sickness, which did not happen.
Afterward we ordered pizza from Dewey's. Another Newport must! Because there was a 2-hour wait for a table, we ordered out and ate on our blanket, which we had placed around 4pm in the afternoon. The hill in front of the levee looked like a patchwork quilt with all of the blankets laying out in preparation for the fireworks.
Which was the most amazing fireworks show I have ever seen! Not only was it 45 minutes long, but they do a couple of specialty items. To name a few: the waterfall over the Purple People Bridge, the "balloon" fireworks", the peace signs, smily faces, and hearts. It was amazing!
Afterward there was "Hurricane Evacuation Type" traffic, but we were able to get home within 2 hours after the fireworks ended (which is normally a 15 minute drive). Aparently that is pretty good because everyone we talked to said it would be a much longer wait than that. But it was worth it! We hope to do it again next year!
Here is us with our Graeters Icecream. If you come visit, we must come get some! It's the creamiest! And the company specialty is chocolate chips... which are more like chunks! Yum!

Your hair is getting long! Looks great. :)
That sounds like a fantasic day. Good deal! There is nothing like a fantastic fireworks show.
We went to see Bourne Ultimatum a couple of weeks ago. I agree about the motion sickness. It didn't hit me, but it sure hurt my eyes. The action was going faster than my pitiful eyes could focus.
I heart fireworks - 45 minutes is a long show!! It sounds wonderful! Happy Labor Day!
