Carter Caves State Park

Brent and I are back from a relaxing 2 days of camping. The weather turned out to be beautiful and quite a bit warmer than we thought. We went through the "X-Cave" and hiked at least seven miles of twisty-turny beautifulness. We saw an eclectic array of wildlife including deer, bats, and snakes. We thought we heard owls and raccoons, but never spotted any of them.
It was quite a strange weekend; one of those trips where you ask yourself, "Could anything else go wrong?" then it does. Some of the odd things included:
  • an unexpected burn ban
  • reving of the chainsaw followed by screeching heard from the Haunted Trail
  • an hour of screaming baby in the middle of the night
  • breaking the only flashlight we had (accidentally got dropped)
  • caving with girl scouts
  • seeing a 50-60 year old lady give her sister a breast exam in the bathroom
  • a random child walking through our campsite mid-morning
  • almost losing $30 while playing putt-putt
  • taking the bikes but forgetting the helmets
  • (my personal favorite) me burping so loud that I startled two deer from their afternoon nap!
  • running into a snake that startled both of usDespite all of these strange things, I can't wait until we go again!

Sounds crazy! And really funny. Its crazy to see you in winter coats! I keep forgetting that its getting colder there. Here I feel like I'm on a forever summer mission trip. They say I'm getting a cold because of the season change. What season change? I don't understand.

Wow - sounds like a crazy trip! Glad ya'll had fun - I'm not a camper, myself. To me, camping is staying at the Holiday Inn. :-)
