Brent and I have decided to attend Grace Fellowship Church. After about 3 months of looking for churches and 3 months of attending this one, we have made a decision!
Last night we attended our first Small Group Bible study since moving to Kentucky. At first we were really intimidated because it is a mixed group of mostly married/dating/engaged couples from 15-50. We were used to our comfort level of the 20s-30s married group we were part of for the last three years in League City and weren't sure what to expect.
Well, when we expect from the Lord, we should be ready for great things! A friend of mine had told me that depending on older, wiser people in the church has great benefits. I doubted her opinion and wanted to be in my "comfort zone." Last night I quickly discovered that I have been missing out.
The group is huge right now, with up to almost 30 people at maximum attendance; there were 19 last night. The group is very diverse in ages, places in life, and experiences in the church. It was awesome to see the fire of God's freshness in two college students as they worshipped freely, without holding back. It reminded me of my own faith a few short years ago. My favorite part was seeing the hope of God working in and through people who were in their upper 30s and 40s as they shared where they have been and how far they have come.
These people of God truly depend on Him as their life support. I wasn't sure there were people still seeking Him with this much passion! This group of amazing people are led by couple that work toward making every decision based on what the Bible teaches. They seek God's will in their life. They are ok with knowing that they are sinners saved by grace.
And this is exactly what I needed, and God knew. I am learning, again, that God will never leave me or forsake me. He will continue calling out my name. He will seek to know me all of my days. And he longs for me to do the same for Him. He wants control my life so that he can replace worry with peace.
Who thought one could learn so much in just two short hours?

Congrats on your decision! I'm thrilled that you are so excited. You inspire me to get back to the business of finding a new church for my family. I've been extremely lax about that. :(
Isn't God amazing? He will speak right to your heart. Congratulations on the new church home!
