Before moving to Houston I had great disdain for cold weather. I found no happiness in it and thought it was rather miserable. However, for the last three winters the weather was in the 60s and 70s for all but about two weeks in February where it hit possible 50s during the day. This helped me gain appreciation for winter. This year I find myself more chipper when it's cold outside. I bought a new coat that is wonderously warm. Instead of dreading the snow I was hoping for it.
This snow day is just fabulous! I dressed up in all my layers of warm clothes that do not match and went out to play with Wilson for his first ever snow. Part of me wishes we could have built a snow man together, but I guess I can wait a while on that!
He liked the taste!
And he loved to run around in it!
I think I have earned a snow day this week. Hear my case:
- On Monday morning I had a kid scratch another so hard that it tore the skin.
- She (the scratcher) spent all day in the office.
- On Monday afternoon two girls refused to work together during science because one of them had made the other carry her soured milk backpack into class that morning.
- The one was a bully to say the least!
- After that, a boy in my science class had a live lice fall out of his hair while in another classroom.
- All of 4th grade was checked for lice on Tuesday morning.
- On Tuesday afternoon two boys dared another boy to drink hand sanitizer at lunch.
- He drank it! Luckily it was diluted with water enough so that it was not a problem.
- One of the "darers" threw away the bottle because it was empty, making it hard to discuss the contents with Poison Control.
- Yes, the office had to call Poison Control!
- (Brent found the hand sanitizing incident rather hilarious because he's always wondered what it would do to you...)
So to say the least I am lying low today. I figure I'll give the apartment a good cleaning, wrap some presents, grade some papers, and watch a girly movie. Maybe I'll choose a classic like "Mean Girls" or a Christmas favorite like "Prancer". Or maybe Wilson and I will have another snow adventure!

Looking at your tv list, the kids & I really like Pushing Daisies. And, of course, we are watching the Race.
Enjoy this day. I would definitely say you deserve it. A live lice? My head is already itching.
