Since Brent and I have been married, we have thought that creating our own traditions was really important. One of the traditions is my homemade apple pie. The entire thing is from scratch... even the crust! It's absolutely scrumptious. I make it once a year; this year was at Thanksgiving. Other times it is at Christmas. Brent begins asking for the next one the day after the last one was made.
Another tradition is picking out our Christmas tree. Because we are in an apartment this year we chose to go fake, but usually the house smelled of pine from the weekend after Thanksgiving up until the day or two before I went back to school in January. This tradition will continue after we get a house up here!
The picture on the top is this year's house. There were a few
problems in the making, including the fact that I cut the pieces wrong and that we put too much candy on the top. We didn't take the picture last night, so you don't get to see the roof... it caved in. It looked really pretty with a snowflake pattern on it though. The second picture is our house from two years ago. No catastrophes there.
I hope you enjoy!

Ah, the gingerbread houses! That was one time I was thankful that I had a job & could only poke my head in now & again to check on the progress. ;)
I love your traditions! I do feel bad for Brent though. Homemade apple pie only once a year? Poor guy. Hee!
Ha! You know how D and I feel about apple pie! We would die if we could only have it once a year (but notice neither of us makes it homemade - we go OUT and get it!).
The gingerbread houses are precious! I'm just not that creative - the best I could do would be using icing to stick graham crackers to the side of a little milk carton and then sticking some candy on it. Gingerbread shanty.
