Book Recommendations

I have two book recommendations/reviews to share of some recent readings.

The first one is Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. This book is amazing! I am not a "crier", but reading this book brought tears of sadness and tears of joy to my eyes quite a few times. Francine Rivers creates a character, named Angel, who I learned to love. I could not relate to her circumstances, but I could feel her pain. In the end I was reminded that God loves me no matter what I've done or where I've been. The way that others see me is not a sign of how The Lover of my Soul sees me. Through thick and thin, He is always there. He will use the circumstances of life to bring me closer to Him. No matter how many times I walk away from His goodness, He will always bring me home!

The second book is The Shack by William Young. I started reading it after Holly told me that I just had to buy it. She said, "It's being called the Pilgrim's Progress of our generation." I don't know about all of the Pilgrim's Progress stuff, but I will tell you that this book has created a damper in my thinking about God. If you read it, you'll no longer see Him in the ways you have before. The way you see yourself will also change. Some things it has made me consider, and I'm only half-way through at this point, include: What gender is God? What is "good" and "bad" anyway? Why are relationships so painful so much of the time? Why is it so hard to love? Where is God when bad stuff happens? This is a fiction book with a great story line. William Young is brilliant for this one!

So there you go! Those are my latest and greatest book recommendations. Enjoy getting to know some characters in-depth and feel yourself change through it all!

Ok, I have to say that I am amazed you made it out of UNCA without reading Redeeming Love. :) It's great, isn't it?

As far as the Shack, Mike had heard about it and he read it first. He loved it and told me I had to read it. He has told everyone we know to read it. I am about half way finished with it. I can only read so much at a time because it really makes you think! It's awesome!

I'll have to check out the Shack. So is Shaquille O'Neal in that at all?

Both of these sound good! I have a lot of books on my "To Read" list (just ask D!) but I'll add these two to it also!
