The fourth grade is doing an interdisciplinary unit centering around the Olympics. Each day we spend about 30 minutes learning background information then another 30 minutes in the front bus loop doing Olympic-like activities. Today we did the long jump.
Little did I know that there was a rivalry between two students, one boy and one girl, in my class... both of which are Japanese. Both children are naturally quiet children, not usually ones to blurt out their thoughts very often.
I realized the rivalry when the little girl yelled out, "I won!" to the boy when she jumped further. The tone of her voice and the look in her eyes were priceless! Apparently they are more competitive with each other than I thought. Whatever the case, she was proud to have beat him out in something.

That sounds pretty cool. Friday is our P.E. Fun Day. Would it be wrong to wish that it be rained out again this year? Yeah, I thought so.
