The River

More fun continued last night around 12:05. I was grumpy and went to bed early, falling asleep around 10. I was sleeping soundly when I started hearing what sounded like a water fall. I ignored it, thinking I was dreaming something up.

Then I heard, "Forget it! I'll just call 911!"

That was when I jumped out of bed. When I walked out of the back bedroom of the place where we are staying I was met by a quarter inch of water that was flowing out of the wall behind the kitchen cabinets. Rena was sweeping the water out of the door and Holly was on the phone, with 911, explaining that we needed the fire department to come out because we had tried the emergency line multiple times and were getting no answer, and had no idea how to get the water to stop flowing.

Well, to make a long story short, the firemen showed up and turned off the water. We were up until 2:30 am cleaning up the mess because maintenance NEVER called us. Apparently their phone was not working. The people below us went out and bought a mop because the water was flowing down on them too. Once we got the majority of the water over the balcony, the mop came in handy for getting up the rest of the water.

This morning the owners of the place and the maintenance men were apologetic. They asked if there was anything they could do to make up for it. We have not said anything yet.

However, Rena, who is getting married next summer, would really like a honeymoon!

Yikes! That's not a pleasant way to wake up. Hope the rest of your excitement is more the fun kind.

That is aweful! Nobody wants to go through that on their vacation. I hope you still enjoy the rest of the trip.
