Ike... All the way up HERE?

This weekend has been a rough one for our friends in Houston. All of you are in our prayers right now as you make your way back home and readjust to life in new ways because of damage due to Ike.

Well, yesterday the same storm made its way to visit us. I know that the effects were nothing like what other people are dealing with, but we are dealing with after effects up here as well. I did not take any pictures of the damage, but we had 2 trees down and tons of debris in our back yard. Brent bought his first chain saw last night and we spent our entire day today raking up leaves and sticks as well as chopping up the two fallen trees. Our damage was minimal compared to many others in the area.

We have also had no power since before 2 pm yesterday. Right now I am at the library using the computer, hoping for power at our house soon. Luckily there was enough hot water left in the tank for showers, but that is all. School was out today and from where I stand right now, it's not looking good for tomorrow.

I know our damage is not even a close comparison to a lot of you out there, but wanted to share and let you know that you are in our hearts during this hard time.

Wow. They say the storm was as big as Texas. I guess that wasn't a lie!

I hope your power is restored soon. Nature has been nice to Texas. The weather hasn't been nearly as hot as it usually is.

They were right about the storm being HUGE! We're still out of school today, but our power came back on a little before 9 this morning. I'm glad it's not too hot for you guys. I hope that everything gets back to "normal" sooner rather than later. We're praying for you all!

Thank you for your prayers! This whole area needs them badly. I can't believe it was that bad way up where you are! Ike was a mean SOB, wasn't he?
