Brent and I did not get on the flight to Germany. We were supposed to fly stand-by and due to weather in the northeast on Friday we were not on the top of the priority list for getting on the plane. We were bummed, but are over it now. It took me about 2 days, which is why I am just now typing this out.
There was also a lady and her little girl trying to get to Germany to see the dad who was on military leave. They were on their third day of trying, having stand-by problems too. It was sad when they did not get on because the girl, who was probably 3 years old, really understood what was going on. She made statements like, "Yep, we're TRYING to go see daddy!" and "Oh man, we didn't get on AGAIN!" She was adorable!
Our fair trade was that we've gotten to hang out with a ton of friends since we did not get to go. On Sunday night we went over to the Newman's to hang out. I just love them and their little boys, Alex and Eli. Eli is the one who is Peter Parker and I'm his Mary Jane. He tells his mom this. On Monday night the Gatewood's came over to watch Elf. Yesterday afternoon we went to lunch with the Honour's for chinese. Then I helped Myra wrap some gifts for the boys.
Were we disappointed that we did not get to go on the whirlwind trip to Germany? Yes. Do we feel blessed to have gotten to hang out with a variety of friends? I think we may have trumped the trip!
Merry Christmas Eve!

I was disappointed for you when I heard you weren't able to go. But the military wife & daughter break my heart! I hope they have gotten a flight now.
I'm glad you have had such fellowship! Enjoy the rest of your time. Merry Christmas!
Love you!
I'm so sorry you didn't get to go - but so happy that you are seeing the blessings behind the disappointment! Merry Christmas to you and Brent!
