My friend from college, Julie, who teaches childbirth classes and works as a doula gave me some advice on natural ways to induce labor when she heard about Monday's induction. Some of her advice was this: drink raspberry leaf tea, get a pedicure/manicure, and enjoy some "special" time with Brent. During the last two days we've taken all of this advice to heart, hoping some of it would work.
And there were results. This morning I woke up with some liquid coming out of places it should not be. After waiting about 15 minutes to see if there was more, we called the doctor, who had us come in. I quickly took care of not going to work (which was not a big deal since my amazing long-term sub has already committed to coming all week anyway) and in the car we drove. After some tests, he said that my water had not broken so there was nothing to worry about. Go home. He also said that his gut was telling him we'd be back before Monday morning. Since then I've had some various liquids leaking I won't go into detail about and very sporadic contractions that are not very painful. I keep praying for more painful, regular ones. I have never in my life prayed for pain... until now!
Baby Carney is coming...
