Oliver Blake Carney

Oliver was born on Sunday, August 22 at 4:16 pm weighing in at 9 lb 7 oz and measuring 20 3/4 inches long. The Lord answered my prayers for both a vaginal birth and no induction.

Everything started up on Saturday night when my friend Bridget was helping me time contractions. They were anywhere from 15-30 minutes apart. Around 2 am they were 5-6 minutes apart while I was laying in bed, but would go away when I got up. We called the doctor and she said not to go to the hospital until they were that far apart and continued when I walked around. Brent and I went to sleep until around 5:30 when I had the urge to go to the restroom. I went and felt a gush of water. I thought that maybe my water broke  but was unsure. For some reason I really wanted some cereal so I went into the kitchen and sat down for breakfast. A few minutes later I stood up to shorts full of water. I called for Brent, who brought a towel and called the doctor again.

When we got to the hospital around 7 am I was 4 cm and 100%  effaced. They quickly admitted me and put us in a room. After some staydall (a medicine that made me super loopy!) they gave me the epidural. By 9:00 I was 6 cm, by 11:00 I was 8, and by 1:00 fully dilated except for a "lip". I slept through most of the morning. Around 3:00 they realized the "lip" was not going to dilate so Dr. Moore fixed it herself and the pushing began around 3:30. Apparently I am good pusher because after 46 minutes Oliver was in my arms.

From there the rest is really just a whirlwind. I do know that the most unexpected part for me has been recovery, which is really not that bad in the big scheme of things.

So he's here! We have tons of pictures and are madly in love with this little guy. Already Brent is super excited about Oliver's future as a disc golf player and both of us can't wait until it's time to go camping and hiking as a family.

Ok, now we can talk names. I figure Blake comes from your bro-in-law. What about Oliver? LOVE IT!!!

Can you reveal what the name would be if a girl? Sorry, I am a name freak. ;)

I wish we lived closer so I could meet Oliver in person. So glad your prayers were answered and you are doing well.

Sigh, so happy for your family.

Ok, I'll quit gushing now.
