Week One: Lots of Firsts

It is hard to believe that Oliver is already one week old. This week we did lots of things for the first time. Here are just a few:
  • Brent and I changed our first diapers ever
  • I learned how to nurse... which was quite the challenge (be watching for a blog entry about that!)
  • All of us experienced our first visit to the pediatritian
  • We took our first walk as a family
  • Oliver's first visit to the grocery store
  • Oliver's first time in church
  • And I'm sure there are more things I am missing...
This week has also been full of visitors! Everyone loves Oliver so much, which is something I want him to grow up knowing. Many neighbors and coworkers have visited both in the hospital and since we came home. Every night someone has brought us dinner from our small group at church. We have an amazing influx of food right now; we should be set for another week or so! People have brought tons of gifts for our little guy. We feel so much love and support!

One visitor that stands out the most is Eli, one of my coworker's children. He left me a voice message earlier in the week wondering if Oliver liked little people and stating that he loved Oliver. After nonstop talk about our new little one to his parents, Eli came to visit the other day. His main question was, "When can we have a sleepover?" We told him he had to wait a while for that. Before he left he kissed Oliver on the head and said he could not wait to see him again. Precious!

Brent and I have looked at each other multiple times this week in awe: "God allowed us to make him?" and "How did that come out of me?" Our most common thought is how much we love this little guy. I never imagined I could love anything this much.
