4 Months Old

Santa's little helper turns 4 months old today. Time is passing so quickly! Unfortunately Oliver is having quite a rough week. On Sunday he was really congested and had a fever on and off. It was bad enough we called the doctor to see what we could do to help. Although we gave him saline nose drops and used the humidifier in his room, he woke up constantly during the night. It was, by far, the roughest night we've had. On Monday morning he went to the doctor to make sure everything was going to be ok and talked the doctor into doing his 4 month check-up while we were there, rather than having to go back next week. The  doctor determined that the congestion was in his nose, not his chest, which was a good sign. Since Monday he has been sleeping constantly, another sign he's still not feeling well. We're praying he's better in time for our influx of visitors next week.

So here are the latest Oliver stats. He weighs 15.5 pounds and is 25 inches long. Both are in the 70% range for his age. He started rice cereal last weekend and is somewhat getting the hang of eating out of a spoon. Yesterday I spent a good portion of the day making homemade baby food: sweet potatoes, butternut squash. carrots, and peas. Though the plan is to keep him on the cereal for a while, we may start the veggies sooner since he's not a fan of the cereal at all.

Other things Oliver can do right now include sitting up really well with support, holding his head up during tummy time, grabbing toys and other things (like my hair!) and squeal happily. Next will be rolling over, which should be really soon.

What a darling! I hate he's feeling icky, but hopefully will be on his way to recovery by the time you read this. Merry Christmas Carney Family! Y'all are precious.
