Big Bone Lick State Park

Ah! Sunday afternoon naps make me smile! Especially after trying out a new church and eating at Abuelos. (We were missing our Mexican!) The church was a pretty traditional Baptist church. We did not fill out the "first time guest" paper because it's not what we are looking for. It's going to be hard to find a church like Clear Creek Community. It just had the right balance of upbeat worship music, skits or video clips, and an amazing pastor. So we'll try another church next Sunday...

I just have to share about yesterday! It was the best day here in Northern Kentucky so far! We went to Big Bone Lick State Park. That's right! It's the birthplace of vertebrate paleontology. That means we got to see lots of bones... of mammoths, bison, and giant sloths. (The sloths made me think of visiting Moody Gardens with my kids last year and seeing the real live sloth!)

And we saw real bison! There were 2 babies and 4 adult ones. They are trying to bring them out of extinction in this area because after the Ice Age they used to roam Kentucky's blue grass.

The park was beautiful. Brent and I really enjoyed the hiking (straight up hill!) and seeing the camp sites. There was a lot of history in this area. We cannot wait until we go to our next park!

Looks beautiful! Sometimes I feel like a sloth - USO Girl and I have to argue over which of us is a bigger sloth even! :-)

Uh, Bubba's Sis, I AM Queen Sloth!

Melissa,
Bubba's Sis is my best friend I've told you about.

The park is neat! I'm so happy it was a good day for ya'll. I remember seeing the sloth. It was bigger than I ever envisioned!

It's hard to find a church. I know you'll keep looking and I'm sure the church for ya'll is out there. Good luck!
