Sunday Excitement

Today we went to a new church called Journey. We really liked it and will at least visit again in the near future. The pastor talked about Philippians 4:13, believing we can do all things through Christ's strength. Something I learned that I was not fully aware of in this verse is that Paul has just finished talking about his own circumstances financially in verse 12. I'm not sure why I never though to notice the context of this verse, but found it intriguing none the less.

After church Brent really wanted to have lunch at Captain D's. I gave into the desire after giving up on my own desire to not eat fried foods. And to make matters worse, I got the fried shrimp with hush puppies. I guess it won't kill me every once in a while. (Brent promised not to ask to go back for six months! Yeah!)

On Friday we never had our weekly dessert so after going to the Farmer's Market (possibly one of my favorite spots here) for fresh zucchini, squash, green peppers, tomatoes, and cantaloupe we went to Cheddar's. (I am ashamed to say, we ate at two restaurants in one day.) We got their signature dessert "Cookie Monster Wow". Wow is right! It was great! It's basically a hot chocolate chip cookie a la mode. Yum!

And after a trip to the local Kroger it was home to rest.

I would like to report that I am glad that my dear Holly and the team from Mountain View Baptist in Hickory are back from the Canada mission trips they took over the past two weeks. Praise the Lord for their safe arrivals today after much airline chaos. They did many wonderful things there that I cannot wait to hear about! God is using these youth and adults in many mighty ways!

Thanks for the prayers! The rest of the team arrived in Hickory around 7:00 PM, 40 hours after leaving our "home" in Vancouver. They were tired and stinky but happy to be home!

Dear sweet, Melissa. Trust me that when you have kids, running around to do, and work (or even work at home), there will be guilt involved with eating at 2 restaurants in 1 day. I live for when that happens! ;) Cheddar's offered Bubba's Sis & me the Cookie Monster but it takes 18 minutes to make! We had to decline.

It's funny that you mention Captain D's. D & I actually saw one today & commented that we hadn't seen one here ever. Hush puppies are the only seafood I like so it makes no difference if we have one or not.

So does Journey have the music & the sermon?

Ummmm.....D? Technically, hush puppies are not really seafood. Just fried cornbread that's served with seafood.
