Whew!

What a week! This is the first time I have actually worked an entire week since we went back from school at Christmas. I'm exhausted. And silly me volunteered to help proctor at Govenor's Cup today... so I'm up stinkin' early for a Saturday.

Now that the complaining is out of the way... it was actually a very productive week at school. We are working on writing portfolios. Each child in the fourth grade in Kentucky must complete a portfolio with three pieces of writing in them to turn in as part of state testing. We are working on piece #2. I have one (out of a total of 60 pieces) ready to turn in. Many others are well on their way into the beloved folder on my desk. The due date is April 29. Two months more to work. Seven weeks if you throw in a week for Spring Break. I did the Happy Dance when I got an email earlier this week saying that they moved the date up one week from the previous due date of April 23 because of snow. With all the school we missed, I was a little worried. Now I will worry no more.

The other big event of the week was getting my National Board box in the mail. I'm going to attempt National Certification next year and plan on getting a heads up on it this spring and summer in order to plan the necessary parts of the project. It's due March 1, 2009. That sounds like a long time, but we all know it is not. I'm really excited about all that I am going to learn from the process. Yes, I am one of those nerdy teachers who still loves to learn new things about how to meet the needs of all my kiddos. What can I say? I love my job!
