Uncle Blake

Earlier this week Uncle Blake came for a visit. We enjoyed good times of brotherly sarcasm, rocking the baby, shopping at the mall, cleaning up projectile poop, having Yagoot, and eating pizza from LaRosa's.
On Monday we started feeding Oliver one bottle per day so we can build up for when I go back to work. (Yes, I know, I still have about 6 more weeks. The planner in me wants to avoid crisis when possible.) Blake gave him his first bottle of breast milk and he took it like a champ, without any problems. Brent has fed him this one time each day the rest of the week and has enjoyed being able to help while being physically close to Oliver.
Oliver also has started being able to lift his head a little. In this picture he's propped up on a pillow and is making great progress. Brent has been working with him on this every day.

On Thursday we had our first "rough" day. Yes, in 4 weeks we've only experienced one "fussy" day. He woke up at 5:30 in the morning and was fussing, except for about 20 minutes when he slept, until 2 in the afternoon. This little guy loves being awake and seeing what is going on around him. Luckily he finally fell asleep and got his fusses out.

Since then he's a new kid. He still stays up twice each day for 2-3 hours, but he seems happy during that time. We think it might have been a growth spurt of some sort because he definitely looks bigger and more grown up now... well as grown up as a not-quite-month-old would be.

We are very fortunate to have a very content baby. Right now his two favorite things to do are 1) sit in his bouncer and hit the turtle hanging on the mobile and 2) lay in his crib listening to the Coldplay and U2 lullaby CDs that Uncle Blake bought for him.

We are so in love with this little guy! He's so much fun!

Thanks for sharing a bit of parenthood with me. I loved the stories of how you see him transitioning to being awake some. That's amazing. Send my love to Oliver!
